RUIN is thrilled to announce the opening of our dedicated Dune Awakening branch, a strategic expansion into the highly anticipated open-world survival MMO, Dune: Awakening, developed by Funcom.

This new branch will focus on creating immersive content, community engagement, and innovative experiences within the Dune universe, capitalizing on the game’s rich narrative and dynamic gameplay. By establishing a presence in Dune: Awakening, RUIN aims to experience unparalleled storytelling together, host competitive guild activities, and player-driven content that resonates with fans of Frank Herbert’s iconic sci-fi saga and Denis Villeneuve’s cinematic adaptations.

The branch will serve as a hub for players to explore Arrakis, forge alliances, and shape the political and economic landscape of this unforgiving desert world.

Dune: Awakening offers a robust platform for content hosting, blending survival mechanics, sandbox combat, and deep character customization. Players can craft unique personas, master skills from Great Schools like the Bene Gesserit or Mentat, and engage in spice-driven economies, base-building, and large-scale PvP in the perilous Coriolis Storm area.

The game’s alternate timeline, where Paul Atreides was never born, introduces a fresh narrative canvas for RUIN to develop original stories and faction-driven content. With Unreal Engine 5 powering the game, RUIN will harness its advanced features—such as Lumen for dynamic lighting and Nanite for intricate rendering—to create visually stunning environments and cinematic experiences. Content hosting will include guild-led events, lore-driven missions, and community projects, with potential support for private servers to enhance clan-based gameplay, pending Funcom’s final specifications.

The strengths of Unreal Engine 5 and the Dune intellectual property amplify RUIN’s vision for this branch. Unreal Engine 5’s flexibility and graphical fidelity, demonstrated by features like ray-traced Lumen and high-fidelity Nanite geometry, enable breathtaking recreations of Arrakis’ vast deserts and colossal sandworms, ensuring immersive gameplay. The Dune IP offers a rich history of political intrigue, ecological themes, and iconic elements like spice and sandworms to overcome.
