Battle for Azeroth is changing how PvE and PvP realms work. Starting in Patch 8.0, realms won’t have separations as PvE or PvP, but now each player can choose whether they want to engage in War Mode or not. Players in War Mode will be in a separate shard from players without it. In order to toggle War Mode, players must be in a capital city.

The new World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth War Mode, Conquest and account wide Prestige System has been confirmed by Blizzard.
On August 14, the Battle for Azeroth will begin! Prepare for war as the Alliance and the Horde go head to head in the latest World of Warcraft expansion. Explore the kingdoms of Zandalar and Kul Tiras, gather Azerite on uncharted islands, and strike at the opposing faction in Warfronts.
Azeroth has been dealt a terrible blow; her wound is grave, and a powerful new substance known as Azerite has been seen seeping up to the surface. As hostilities between the Horde and Alliance reignite, both factions recognize Azerite’s potential to turn the coming battle in their favor.
When you pre-purchase a digital copy of Battle for Azeroth, you can also begin the journey to unlock four of the expansion’s new playable Allied Races: the Highmountain Tauren, Lightforged Draenei, Void Elves, and Nightborne.
